Good to know
Traditional vanities are about 30–32 inches tall, while “comfort height” (vanity height) units are 34–36 inches — closer to kitchen-counter height and easier on the back for most adults. The best height depends on who uses the bathroom and whether children need access.
Measure the available wall width, then leave clearance for the door swing, adjacent fixtures, and about 30 inches of open floor space in front. Single vanities commonly run 24–48 inches wide; double-sink vanities usually need 60 inches or more. Account for plumbing location and storage needs.
Quartz is the most durable and lowest-maintenance vanity top — non-porous and stain-resistant. Granite and quartzite are also excellent. Cultured marble is budget-friendly but scratches more easily, and natural marble is elegant but prone to etching from cosmetics and cleaners.
Floating vanities give a modern look, make the floor easier to clean, and can make a small bathroom feel larger. They must be anchored into wall blocking to carry the load and the plumbing height has to be planned in advance, so they are best installed as part of a remodel.
