Stock comes in fixed sizes and finishes at the lowest cost; semi-custom adds more sizes, door styles, and modifications; custom is built to exact dimensions. Well-built cabinets typically last 20–50 years. Solid-wood and plywood-box construction outlasts particleboard, and dovetailed drawer boxes with soft-close hardware hold up far longer than stapled joints. Proper installation and avoiding prolonged moisture are the biggest factors in longevity — which is why GBC installs every kitchen with its own in-house crews.
